Realism pass done, and a mind for Adam and Eve

This is the first post on the Elyon dev blog. We will use it to share progress as we go, the good and the unfinished.

The realism pass is done

The garden now has a sun that moves with the time of day, clouds overhead, stars at night, and a moon that goes through its phases. The ground, rock, bark, leaves, and water have more natural materials, and Adam and Eve now stand on solid ground. This work is merged into the main build.

A mind for Adam and Eve

We are giving Adam and Eve an AI mind that runs locally on the player's PC. A small, fast model handles quick replies so they can answer right away. Testing is still in progress, and it goes into the game only after it passes.

Memory comes next, so what happens to them shapes how they act later. After that come aging and sleep.

A human-like brain model

We have also started work on a brain model for Adam and Eve. It is a map of the main parts of the brain: senses, attention, emotion, memory, planning, habits, and basic drives like hunger and tiredness. The goal is for them to behave as much like real people as we can manage. This is early work and still in progress.

What is not settled

There is no ship date. We would rather show real progress here than make promises. If you want updates by email, you can join the list on the home page.
